Gesine Thomson is an internationally recognized Architect, Keynote Speaker and Poet specializing in large scale Community Planning and Sustainable Human Growth.
Her poetry drives human connection and shines a light on the empathetic synergy between nature and humanity, giving insight to the beauty that exists between it all.
The heart of all of her work is set deeply in the roots of each culture and community. While integrating thought breaking innovation to ensure a healthy environment for community growth and social stability, her work reaches into the heritage of each local region to allow a sense of belonging and purpose. These elements are guided to enable a harmonious future existence for the population within their social and natural environments.
I believe in this century architecture has a higher calling – finding a way to balance the demands of population growth, reclaiming and nurturing battered nature, as well as efficiently addressing the economic realities of each project.
Therefore, I integrate wisdom of the past with cutting edge technology but most of all use common sense. The base of all my work is love of nature and people.
The product of elegance and creativity is undeniable functionality. My first designs are always based on clarifying the required functions of a request and blending deep research into its surrounding culture. I take all these pieces and let them merge creatively to form something whose elegance and functionality resemble for me – Art.
I have always sought to sharpen my creative skills by using many forms of creative expression. Each creative process sparks the next, leading to the next insight, spiraling upwards in a crescendo of ideas, process and creative essence. Each building on what came before and enhancing the creative reality which surrounds me as I work. This refined perception then expands its sensitivity to embrace the work and forms a sixth sense built from the inspirational elements of these various disciplines.
By blending forms of artistic expression, I can merge their influences and ideas, creating designs whose layers and depth add an enchanting luster to even the most elementary components. These creative paths include photography, poetry and illustration. Through photography I learn about the physical dynamics, the light and shadows of a place. Writing and poetry have taught me the humanity of a region or culture. By drawing I try to capture the mix of these elements in the lines of my design.
Creativity is a process of blending influences, dreams and realities. This is how I strive to create projects which are timeless.
